Anger Management - How to deal with ANGER
Anger is a completely normal, usually healthy, emotion. But, when it gets out of control and turns destructive, it can lead to problems
Anger is an emotional state that varies from mild irritation to intense fury and rage. Like other emotions, it is accompanied by physiological and biological changes; when you get angry, your heart rate and blood pressure go up, as do the levels of your energy hormones, adrenaline and noradrenaline. Anger can be caused by both external and internal events. You could be angry at a specific person or event, or your anger could be caused by worrying or brooding about your personal problems.
The instinctive, natural way to express anger is to respond aggressively. Anger is a natural, adaptive response to threats; it inspires powerful, often aggressive feelings and behaviours, which allow us to fight and to defend ourselves. On the other hand, we cannot physically lash out at every person or object that irritates or annoys us; laws, social norms and common sense place limits on how far our anger can take us.

We, at Orchard Counselling Practice, have studied anger intervention for some time, and specialise in Anger and Stress Management therapy interventions. Our specialised three to twelve session process is based on tried and proven Cognitive Analytical and Cognitive Behavioural Techniques. Each series of sessions is tailored uniquely to the individual and helps people deal with many types of anger, from general frustration to the extremes of physical and emotional violence found in domestic and road rage situations. Therapy sessions can take place face-to-face, by telephone, or Internet Messenger Service/Web Cam.*
